Johnson Electric Launches Electric Motor for Turbocharger



Industry’s highest torque and speed for engine performance



Hong Kong — Johnson Electric today announced a high torque motor platform for Variable Geometry Turbochargers (VGT). The motor platform provides the industry’s highest torque output in a compact package. With 40% higher torque output than existing technology, the VGT actuator product line enables instantaneous response to engine management commands. 



The new Johnson Electric motor platform is engineered to match a range various VGT actuator design requirements from single stage to dual stage, and from low to high-boost ratios. All Johnson Electric VGT actuator motors are designed to withstand ambient temperatures up to 160°C and vibration up to 50G.



“Fuel economy improvement is the drive behind the growth in turbocharger demand,” said Jim Dick, Johnson Electric’s senior vice president of Strategic Marketing. “Engine and turbocharger performance is improved by the instantaneous response of electric actuators,” he added.
