Effective Production with abas ERP

Truplast expansion supported by abas Business Software

Karlsruhe, November 24, 2011 - Business is going well at Truplast Kunststofftechnik GmbH, headquartered in Langgöns. The company is a worldwide leader in developing and manufacturing hoses and hose systems. Truplast products are in demand around the globe and the company is expanding. When the existing company IT, which consisted of many isolated solutions, reached its limits, Truplast started looking for a new, integrated ERP system. After an extensive selection process, Truplast chose ABAS Projektierung and abas Business Software.

Decisive factors for the selection team were the international presence and best ratings regarding specialist and functional requirements of the implementation partner and the ERP system.

European market leader for vacuum cleaner hoses Truplast Kunststofftechnik GmbH has a wide product range. When dealing with plastic hoses and hose systems for industry and household appliances, customers get everything from one source. Truplast starts the development of hoses according to the customer's design specifications. Their in-house prototype building realizes customer requirements and after the release, the series production is carried out in the in-house construction and engineering department. About 100 people are employed at the company headquarters in Langgöns. Another 150 employees work in the production locations in Sonneberg, Girona (Spain) and Jakabszállás (Hungary). In China, Truplast is part of a group of German companies that provide hoses manufactured according to European standards in the Chinese market.

Faster and more efficient processes

Waldemar Koch, Head of Production at Truplast: "Truplast has various production procedures which have to be represented in the ERP system.

Production of our vacuum cleaner hoses using an extrusion process, for example, is series production. Data sheets, formulations and mixing ratios are recorded in the BOM. One advantage of our new ERP system is that it automatically prints the documents that are attached to an order. A BOM looks entirely different in the engineering department, which is our make-to-order department. Both procedures can be represented in our ERP system." Via the PDC system and barcode scanners that are connected to the software, Truplast has automated and increased the procedure for completion confirmations. The material and effort will be automatically posted in the system. Due to the specified processes, errors in completion confirmations have been decreased and the error rate has nearly dropped to 0. Also, the new completion confirmation procedure saves up to one hour per day. The head of production does not have to think twice when asked about changes since the software implementation: "If a sales order is transferred to production today, I can see immediately whether all the required materials are in stock or when they will be delivered."

Dipl.-Kfm. Tim Schröder, Head of Controlling, Finances and Personnel adds: "Moreover, there is additional information available in the new ERP software which was not provided in the old system, such as special performance evaluations for a sales order or evaluations in the quality assurance area. With the integrated DMS system it is now also possible to reconstruct the past up to document level with only a click - this also saves a lot of time. Another thing that speaks in favor of our IT solution is the possibility to represent processes again and again in the software. We have grown a lot over the past years, especially in the area of customized hose system solutions. It was almost impossible to represent the new processes in the old system. This is no problem with abas ERP. And last but not least, we need an ERP software that can be used internationally. We have production locations in Hungary, Spain and China and are planning to connect the plant in Hungary to the ERP system in the near future."
