Ultramain Systems Announces Integrated Electronic Flight Bag Module

FARNBOROUGH, England, July 17 -- Farnborough International Air Show -- Ultramain Systems, Inc. today announced the availability of Ultramain(R) efbFlightLogs(TM), the powerful new flight-planning module of the Ultramain aviation maintenance and logistics software solution.

Ultramain efbFlightLogs is Electronic Flight Bag ("EFB") software that allows pilots to capture flight log information in real time and alert ground- based maintenance systems prior to arrival, minimizing the delays and deferrals that can negatively impact an airline's bottom line. efbFlightLogs integrates not only with Ultramain software, but also with many maintenance and engineering software systems available today.

Developed in cooperation with World Airways and other Ultramain Systems customers, efbFlightLogs is based on the latest Java development platform -- Java EE 5 -- and is part of the forthcoming web-based Ultramain V9.0. efbFlightLogs supports digital signatures, integrates with hosted EFB systems, supports the latest communications protocols (ACARS, SatComm, WiFi), and secures transactions with replication/failover capabilities. In addition, efbFlightLogs integrates with voice and data communications systems from Wingspeed, ARINC, and others.

World Airways, a subsidiary of World Air Holdings, Inc., plans to begin implementation of efbFlightLogs later this year. According to Charlie Addison, CIO of World Air Holdings, Inc., "NavAero devices are already installed on World Airways aircraft and we are looking forward to bringing efbFlightLogs live. The software will help us achieve our goal of having a paperless flight log on board our aircraft. Also, being able to transmit logbook information while in flight will allow us to be more efficient in clearing discrepancies on the ground. Our maintenance personnel will become more proactive while a flight is en route."

"That will give us measurable productivity gains while shortening the amount of time our planes spend on the ground," Addison added.

efbFlightLogs is designed to run on hardware located centrally in the cockpit and in the cabin, such as navAero's EFB cockpit display system for general, corporate, and commercial aviation. Stefan Ridderheim, navAero founder and CEO, stated that "Ultramain's new EFB capability runs flawlessly on our t-Bag C2(2) EFB cockpit display system, which is being deployed by leading aviation organizations worldwide. The combination of efbFlightLogs with navAero display systems offers a versatile paperless solution that enables faster, more accurate turnarounds."

Ultramain efbFlightLogs supports inbound discrepancies, ground maintenance, and outbound flight reviews. Based on Ultramain V9 architecture, the efbFlightLogs is web-based, with a smart-client front-end and a Java EE 5 back-end. Data is transmitted via compressed XML over HTTP/S.
