Charmilles Launches All-purpose, Affordable Roboform 44

Lincolnshire, IL, March 24, 2003 - Charmilles' new Roboform 44 meets the demands of all-purpose EDM machines at an affordable price. The machine, manufactured at the Charmilles Manufacturing facility in Owosso, Michigan, is designed to deliver exceptional value for the money. The Roboform 44 combines a host of advanced features recognized as unequalled in the industry for its category. User-friendly, intuitive and practical, the Roboform 44 now allows access to reputed Charmilles technology at a reasonable price.

The Roboform 44 is equipped with integrated dielectric tank, short C frame and moving cross table with X, Y and Z travel (500x350x350 mm/19.7x13.8x13.8 in). As with any Charmilles product, the new Roboform 44 comes standard with linear glass scales featuring close loop positioning feedback on all axes over the entire axis length.

The Roboform 44 features a 6 - position/tool changer and a servo controlled C axis. With an axis speed of 30 mm/sec (70 in/min), setup and dry run times are shortened for greater productivity.

To provide ease of use, the new Roboform 44 enables the operator to program the job as dictated by priority: speed, low wear and surface finish. With the best surface finish (Ra 0.1 µm) achievable in steel, Program Expert prepares machining programs from roughing to finishing and selects the most suitable technology for the intended application.

The Roboform 44 also comes standard with software designed to tap its full potential. With its user-friendly and PC-compatible software, the Sinker Programming System (SPS) allows operators to program all current Charmilles CNC die sinking machines, and features simple questionnaires for fast learning. SPS shortens cycle times, eliminates the risk of error and uses 100% of generator capabilities for maximum productivity.

To accommodate a wide variety of applications, the Roboform 44 provides a wide choice of machining cycles that are easy to program.
