New Small Hole EDM Drilling Technology on Display at IMTS

Mountain View, CA CURRENT EDM Inc. will exhibit exciting new innovations in Small Hole EDM technology at IMTS 2002. They will be located in Booth D-4128 of the EDM Pavilion at McCormick Place. Introduced will be new EdmDrill(TM) models designed for extremely large part capacity, micro-hole drilling and highly automated production applications.

Current EDM's Model CT1600-5ATS CNC EdmDrill(TM), with X-Y table travel of 63" x 28", is the largest production EDM driller on the market today. Its massive machining envelope makes it ideal for precision drilling of large, complex parts found in aerospace, turbine power and automotive industries. Its unique, open table design allows it to easily accommodate large and heavy die sets and molds. The CT1600-5ATS's PC-Based Controller enables industry-standard programming of all axes with nearly unlimited program storage capacity. Its highly integrated design provides seamless control of the toolchanger, guide changer and power supply to provide complete control over the EDM drilling process. The CT1600-5ATS on display is equipped with the Theta Axis, which tilts the drilling head +/-70 degrees, as well as a 24-Tool Automatic Electrode Changer and a 6-station Guide Changer.

The Model CT300 CNC EdmDrill(TM) on display features new technology designed for Micro Hole Drilling with electrodes as small as .0005 in diameter. The precision 12 x 8 table makes the CT300 suitable for production applications in the medical, dental, and telecommunications industries.

The Model CT500 will be integrated with automatic part loading to demonstrate the ability to transform any CNC EdmDrill(TM) into a highly automated solution for production drilling requirements.

The Model MT30SII will be shown with a custom built stand and part positioning system to demonstrate the versatility of this component style system.

The Model ST300 manual machine will be set up and tooled to handle onsite drilling. Customers can bring in their sample parts and watch us perform the test cut. This will show how simple it is to drill a wide variety of parts and materials with a Current EDM EdmDrill(TM).
