New Solutions for Digital Film

The German based company presented CLIPSTER and CineControl - fast and effective systems for the "digital lab"

Hanover, Germany. The interest shown by visitors to the DVS booth, SL1744, at this year's NAB was extremely high, despite there being fewer attendees at NAB 2003. CLIPSTER attracted special attention. This real-time editing workstation, being shown for the first time, generated huge acclaim. CineControl, an on-set capturing system for digital film, too, gained commendation and the pair underlined the company's intentions as a leading supplier of solutions for the "digital lab".

"With CLIPSTER, we're offering editors an optimal system, enabling them to work on the original material, in any format, in real time", comments Bernhard Reitz, Product Manager. In regular live demonstrations visitors were given the first impressions of the high performance editing platform. Realtime cuts, wipes and dissolves, zooming and panning, in mixed resolutions from SD to 2K were shown. The system works under the Windows® file system from which clips are simply dragged to a "clip bin" and then to the timeline. After editing is completed, play-out can be in any desired resolution. The first CLIPSTERS will be delivered in June 2003. Prices start at EUR 69,000.

The on-set digital film capturing system DVS CineControl and DVS CineReel record uncompressed film data from all professional HD digital film cameras. Viewing, securing and transportation of the captured data is fast and simple. The D.O.P. can recognize immediately if a re-shoot is necessary, saving time on-set and the costs thereof. Each CineReel holds up to 90 minutes of uncompressed HD footage in 4:4:4. Being designed for fieldwork, the system is compact and robust and weighs just 15 Kilograms.
