Edge Signaling Solution offers any-to-any connectivity.

Press Release Summary:

SEGway IP-Edge lets service providers design signaling networks with optimal efficiency through link consolidation, local routing, and core Signal Transfer Point traffic offload. Options enable service selection of routing schema tailored to network topology. In cases where consolidated traffic monitoring and billing is required, routing capability lets service providers direct all traffic to core. Traffic may also be processed locally by IP-Edge, avoiding traffic backhaul costs.

Performance Technologies Enhances SEGway IP-Edge Signaling Solutions with New Features that are Rock Solid to the Edge

SEGway IP-Edge devices promise to change the landscape of SS7 signaling networks by driving the intelligence of signaling to the edge of the network

ROCHESTER, N.Y., and CHICAGO, June 18 -- Performance Technologies (NASDAQ:PTIX), a leading developer of communications platforms and systems, today unveiled at NXTcomm 2007 its most flexible intelligent edge signaling solution to date. SEGway IP-Edge brings powerful capabilities to the edge of the SS7 network, allowing service providers to design signaling networks that realize significant cost benefits. During NXTcomm, Performance Technologies is showcasing its full range of SS7/IP signaling products.

While continuing to leverage legacy investments, carriers can achieve greater efficiency through link consolidation, local routing and core Signal Transfer Point (STP) traffic offload. SEGway IP-Edge's flexible routing options enable the service provider to select a routing schema tailored to their network topology. In cases where consolidated traffic monitoring and billing is required, SEGway's superior advanced routing capability allows service providers to direct all traffic to the core. Alternately, traffic may be processed locally by the IP-Edge, avoiding unnecessary traffic backhaul costs. IP-Edge's complete suite of standards-based interfaces allows any-to-any connectivity within a TDM, ATM or IP-based network, regardless of an operator's current STP vendor.

"To keep their competitive edge, service providers must maximize the value of their legacy TDM switches while simultaneously growing and evolving their network. Our advanced next generation solutions allow them to do just that by extending the reach of IP out to edge nodes," said Deb Brunner-Walker, Signaling Systems Group marketing director, Performance Technologies. "Traditionally, centralized message handling forced carriers to continually increase their investment in large core STP nodes. The wide install base of our SEGway IP-Edge has already changed the network's landscape by driving signaling intelligence to the edge of the network. Now, by deploying the enhanced SEGway IP-Edge, service providers can reduce expensive core STP growth by aggregating traffic onto fewer, less expensive IP links."

With its low capital, start-up and on-going lifecycle costs, SEGway IP-Edge helps both wireline and wireless operators maximize their return on investment. SEGway's rock-solid performance and powerful suite of features delivers seamless IP network evolution while preserving legacy investments.
