The ECO bottles are lighter than traditional wine bottles, an important factor in reducing shipping costs.

To evaluate environmental impact, wineries can use the ECO Calculator. When compared to a standard 20-ounce wine bottle, the Inspiration Claret bottle reduces by 19 percent CO2 emissions and the energy required for manufacturing.

The ECO Series offers nine bottles designed for two markets.

The Evolution line, which includes both claret and burgundy bottles, matches the packaging requirement for the main 750-ml volume market. They have a mid-sized punt, weigh 14-ounces, and are available in both cork/bartop and Stelvin® finishes.

The claret bottle's height is 11.75-inches, has a 2.89-inch diameter and is available in antique green, champagne green and flint. The burgundy bottle's height is 11.43-inches, has a 3.11-inch diameter and is available in antique green and dead leaf.

The Inspiration line promotes high-value characteristics and was designed for high-end wines. They feature full punts and a 750-ml capacity.

The burgundy bottles weigh 16.50-ounces and are11.60-inches tall. The cork finished bottle is 3.21-inches wide and the Stelvin finished bottle is 3.20-inches wide.

The claret bottles come in three varieties.

The standard claret weighs 16.50-ounces, is 11.88-inches tall and 2.95-inches in diameter. It features a cork finish and is available in antique green, champagne green and flint.

The tapered claret weighs 16.00-ounces, is 11.88-inches tall and 3.04-inches in diameter. It features a cork finish and is available in antique green and champagne green.

The Stelvin finished claret weighs 16.50-ounces, is 11.88-inches tall and 2.94-inches in diameter. It is available in antique green and flint.

The ECO Series bottles are manufactured by Verallia North America, the only glass container manufacturer, along with its parent company Saint-Gobain, to earn the EPA's Energy Star Partner of Year Award for its conservation efforts.
