Hyland's OnBase® 6.4 Helps Insurance Employees Better Execute Content-Driven Processes

Latest Release Helps Carriers Utilize a Broad Array of Microsoft Software, such as Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, To Provide Employees with Familiar Tools to More Easily Execute Content-Driven Processes

CLEVELAND, May 22 -- Hyland Software Inc. today announced the release of version 6.4 of its OnBase enterprise content management (ECM) software suite. Version 6.4 further takes advantage of OnBase's solutions based on Microsoft and provides information workers with new ways of leveraging the familiar user experience of the Microsoft Office System to interact with OnBase transactional content and process management solutions. The new capabilities include Archive Services for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 and a packaged adaptor for Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006. Version 6.4 of the OnBase Document Composition for Microsoft Office Word module has also been enhanced to support automated document composition and generation for high volume processes such as insurance claims processing and policy renewals.

These new and enhanced capabilities build upon an already extensive list of ways carriers can utilize their Microsoft investments to leverage OnBase transactional content and process management solutions. These include packaged Web Parts for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server portals, E-mail Archive for Microsoft Exchange Server as well as integrations for Microsoft Dynamics, Microsoft Office Outlook and Microsoft Office InfoPath.

"Document management is a key issue for insurers. Every step of the insurance product life cycle from product definition through distribution, underwriting, service, and claims relies on the creation and handling of internal and external documents," said Matthew Josefowicz, managing director of the insurance practice at industry research and advisory firm Celent, LLC. "Integrating document management systems seamlessly into other productivity systems is critical to maximizing the value of these investments."

"Hyland's solution, based on the Microsoft software platform, helps carriers, agents and other employees in the insurance industry manage content- driven enterprise processes, such as claims processing, underwriting, new business and customer service," said Bill Hartnett, general manager of Microsoft's U.S. Insurance Industry Group. "This increases productivity, helps maintain compliance - and ultimately empowers employees with easy-to-use and familiar Microsoft software tools."

"Utilizing our distinct but complimentary solutions, content users can leverage their preferred Microsoft experience to find the content they need to drive quicker, better decisions at the frontline, enhance customer service, reduce cycle times and minimize the opportunity for error. Hyland and Microsoft can take advantage of the distinct but complementary product strengths to help our mutual customers openly pursue a true enterprise-wide content management strategy," explained Kyle Blair, Practice Leader, Insurance Solutions at Hyland Software

The OnBase Web Parts for Microsoft SharePoint presents content to the Insurance Consumer in an effective dashboard setting without the need for custom integration. This view, for example provides the business content- centric user access to transactional content from OnBase and other line of business applications via a single, familiar interface.

Document Composition for Microsoft Office Word allows the Insurance organization to seamlessly create standard, dynamic form letters and notifications to meet the needs of underwriting or claims processes enterprise-wide. The user experience is enhanced as the aggregation of the required letter can be entirely automated or it can allow for personal interaction. Users are not forced to re-key mission critical data for denial letters, total loss correspondence, conditional renewal notices or any variety of form letters supporting enterprise initiatives.

The Integration for Microsoft InfoPath provides Insurance carriers the ability to extend their Microsoft technology investment through the natural consumption of InfoPath forms leveraged by their organization. Coupled with new functionality provided within InfoPath 2007, most notably the ability to present InfoPath forms via a browser (InfoPath Forms Services), OnBase Insurance consumers now have the unique opportunity to create a powerful, end to end solution to administer or support their Policy and Claim life cycles.

The Integration for Microsoft Office Outlook enables the OnBase Insurance consumer to extend the enterprise benefits recognized in the use of Microsoft Office Outlook. No longer required to print and then file e-mail and attachments manually to the associated Policy or Claim file, users can quickly and intuitively add content directly to OnBase from their Outlook inbox. Building on the concept of a shared interface, company stakeholders can also retrieve policy documents, email notices and perform workflow activities, exploiting the capabilities of OnBase through the Microsoft Office Outlook display.
