DuPont(TM) Tyvek® CommercialWrap® D and DuPont(TM) Thru-Wall Flashing Will Help Builders
Earn Credit Toward U.S. Green Building Council's LEED Certification
WILMINGTON, Del., July 19 / -- DuPont today introduced new sustainable innovations that will help increase the protection and energy efficiency of commercial buildings. DuPont(TM) Tyvek® CommercialWrap® D and DuPont(TM) Thru-Wall Flashing will enhance protection of the building envelope by helping to improve energy efficiency and protection from the elements - assisting in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).
The national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable commercial buildings is defined by the U.S. Green Building Council as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). By specifying DuPont(TM) Tyvek®, commercial buildings can earn credit toward certification in the categories of Energy & Atmosphere (EA), Materials & Resources (MR), Indoor Environmental Quality (EQ) and Innovation & Design Process (ID).

"These innovations will enhance the DuPont(TM) Tyvek® Weather Barrier System by improving water drainage and, when specified by commercial architects and designers, by helping achieve LEED certification in commercial buildings."
"Obtaining LEED certification for a commercial building means its specifiers and architects have surpassed standard building code practices, developed a higher performing building and incorporated elements of green building design," Schuler said.
Available in the United States this fall, the new products will enhance the DuPont(TM) Tyvek® Weather Barrier System, which includes DuPont(TM) Tyvek® CommercialWrap®, DuPont(TM) Flashing Systems, DuPont(TM) Tyvek® Wrap Cap Fasteners and DuPont(TM) Tyvek® Tape.
DuPont(TM) Tyvek® CommercialWrap® D
The newest component of the DuPont(TM) Tyvek® Weather Barrier System, DuPont(TM) Tyvek® CommercialWrap® D is a vapor permeable weather barrier with a specially engineered textured surface that helps create a more efficient drainage plane. The product offers many of the benefits of DuPont(TM) Tyvek® CommercialWrap®, such as UV resistance, high tear and wind load resistance, and the added advantage of an enhanced drainage plane. Serving as the first layer of air and moisture protection after the exterior facade, DuPont(TM) Tyvek® CommercialWrap® D helps keep drafts and wind out of wall cavities, thereby reducing the energy needed for heating and cooling. It is compatible under all wall claddings and is designed to meet the needs of climates and exterior applications that require additional drainage.
DuPont(TM) Thru-Wall Flashing
To further enhance the DuPont(TM) Tyvek® Weather Barrier System, DuPont(TM) Thru-Wall Flashing is being introduced as a self-adhered membrane made with DuPont(TM) Elvaloy®, a copolymer that adds improved flexibility and durability. This innovation bridges the wall assembly, creating a drainage path to the exterior of commercial buildings. DuPont(TM) Thru-Wall Flashing is compatible with the entire DuPont system, is easy to install and provides superior water drainage.
