Ricoh Americas Corporation Introduces Priport DX 4640PD Digital Duplicator

The World's First Duplex Printing Duplicator

WEST CALDWELL, N.J., June 11 -- Ricoh Americas Corporation, a leading provider of digital office equipment, today introduced the Priport DX 4640PD. As the world's first duplex digital express printer, the Priport DX 4640PD combines high-speed printing with outstanding image quality to improve output efficiency and lower costs for businesses with routinely long print runs. This reliable, user-friendly system sets a new standard for affordable, high-volume productivity.

The Priport DX 4640PD's duplex capability greatly increases the convenience and time-efficiency of printing two-sided documents. Traditional duplicators require a multiple-step process for double-sided printing. The paper feeding mechanism, designed exclusively for duplex printing, streamlines the process and eliminates the need for ink drying and paper realignment, reducing the time required for double-sided printing by 43 percent. The new main motor produces a maximum print speed for two-sided documents of 240 images per minute (ipm), almost doubling the output of traditional digital duplicators.

The main advantage digital duplicators provide as compared to printers is lower cost-per-prints (CPP) and higher speed. The Priport DX 4640PD's duplex printing capabilities lower the CPP significantly more than one-sided duplicators, thereby reducing a company's overhead over the long-term. The high speed output means less time wasted waiting for long print runs to be completed. Furthermore, the Priport DX 4640PD lowers an organization's use of consumables for large print large jobs, improving overall efficiency and, in turn, increasing profits.

The Priport DX 4640PD offers several other features including document storage and password protection security. The duplicator also is equipped with standard network connectivity and is compatible with Ricoh's @Remote System, which is an internet-based tool for remote management of networked printers and multifunction products.

"Traditionally, digital duplicators are known for their speed, exceptional cost performance and easy operation," said Ron Potesky, vice president of Corporate Product Marketing, Ricoh Americas Corporation. "By developing the world's first duplex duplicator, Ricoh has significantly enhanced dual-sided printing speed, convenience and CPP, taking the digital duplicator market to the next level."

The suggested retail price for the Priport DX 4640PD's is $17,500. To learn more about Ricoh's full line of products, please visit www.ricoh-usa.com
