UFP Technologies Offers Custom Polyethylene Foam Dunnage Bars

UFP Technologies, Inc. is offering durable lightweight customized polyethylene foam dunnage bars. This material, which can be used for automotive and other material handling applications, competes favorably with molded, high-density, self-skinning urethane foam dunnage bars.

The design of the dunnage bar provides desired parts density and structural integrity, and offers a highly viable alternative to urethane. The foam used has a density of nine pounds per cubic foot, which represents approximately a 50% reduction in weight from heavy molded polyurethane foams.

The delivery time for the fabricated foam dunnage bar, which fits conveniently into a metal rack, is also much shorter - one week compared to as long as seven weeks for molded urethane. Consequently, the potential of missing a delivery or launch date due to packaging - a costly scenario - is virtually eliminated. Prototypes can also be modified quickly and cost-effectively.
