Original Press Release:

New Duct Rodders from GMP Combine High Tensile Strength, Flexibility & Economy

November, 2002; Trevose, PA - General Machine Products Co., Inc. (GMP) has added Duct Rodders to its line of tools and materials for the telephone, cable television (CATV) and power utility industries. Constructed of fiberglass strands impregnated with a highly resilient thermosetting gel and proprietary strengthening agents, GMP Duct Rodders deliver exceptional quality at an economical price. A tough, UV-stabilized safety-yellow polypropylene coating, which will neither soften in hot weather nor become brittle in cold, offers protection against water and
extreme temperature conditions.

GMP Duct Rodders are mounted on GMP Duct Rodder Carriers, which are constructed of lightweight tubular steel protected from corrosion by a black-oxide finish. The transporting wheels
are located within the inside dimensions of the frame so that the Rodders can be used in either an upright or side position. An integral hand-operated wheel brake controls over-spin.

GMP Duct Rodders are equipped with a male-threaded fitting on the outboard end and a female-threaded fitting on the back end. They are available in three nominal diameters: 1/4" (6.4 mm),
3/8" (9.5 mm) and 1/2" (12.8 mm), in continuous lengths from 100 to 1,000 feet (in 100-foot increments), depending on the selected diameter.

Several accessories are also available. Roller Guides help guide the duct rod around bends, sweeps and duct misalignments, or where a duct is already occupied with cable. Flexible Leaders also help guide the duct rod around bends, sweeps and misalignments. Shackle Fittings, when used with GMP's Tapered Heads, provide a larger pulling loop for attaching the pulling line or rope. A Swivel Coupling will connect two duct rods when a single length is not long enough for the full conduit run, and also provides a rotating swivel when pulling line, wire or rope. A Repair Kit, which includes epoxy, sandpaper, an inline splice and instructions, is available for repairing duct rodders in the field, shop or garage.
