Original Press Release:
CertainTeed ToughGard(TM) Duct Board for Supply and Return Air Duct Work
CertainTeed ToughGard(TM) Duct Board is designed for fabrication into supply and return air duct work for both residential and commercial HVAC systems. It is composed of resin-bonded glass fibers with a reinforced foil laminate air barrier/vapor retarder facing applied to the outside surface and overlaid in the interior with the extremely durable ToughGard black composite airstream facing. It features the moisture-repellent Enhanced Surface. The air stream surface of ToughGard Duct Board contains an EPA-registered antimicrobial agent in order to reduce the potential of microbial growth that may affect this product. The antimicrobial properties are intended to only protect this product. Tested in accordance with Underwriters Laboratories UL 181, it is designed to operate at air velocities up to 5000 fpm. The tough airstream facing surface is resistant to fabrication and job site installation damage. It also provides an abrasion-resistant surface that may be cleaned with commonly available NAIMA-recommended duct cleaning equipment. ToughGard Duct Board has generally a lower installed cost than wrapped or lined sheet metal systems. The duct board can be fabricated into square, rectangular, or multi-sided duct sections. The exceptional low air leakage rate (SMACNA Class 6) of the ToughGard Duct Board improves the HVAC system performance and can help save energy, thereby keeping energy costs down.
