Original Press Release:

Intelligent, Dual PMC Host CompactPCI Board, Using Low Power 1.2GHz or 800MHz Pentium® III

August 2002 - Concurrent Technologies is pleased to announce the single slot PP 110/01x, an intelligent, dual PMC Host CompactPCI board. As well as two 66MHz PMC sites, the PP 1 10/01x supports dual gigabit PICMG® 2.16 (Packet Switching Backplane), PICMG 2.9 (IPMI system monitoring), PICMG 2.1 (hot swap), and can operate as a system controller board, a peripheral board or a satellite board. The board uses either the 1.2GHz Mobile Intel Pentium III Processor-M or the 800MHz Low Voltage Intel Pentium III Processor 512K with up to 1.5 Gbytes 133MHz ECC SDRAM. The PP 110/01x is ideally suited to I/O intensive embedded applications.

The two 64-bit 66MHz PMC sites are available for user functions or for the addition of any standard PMC modules. The PMC I/O connector signals from both PMC sites are routed to the front panel and rear connectors. For faster system throughput, the PP 110/01x can auto-select to 33MHz or 66MHz CompactPCI backplane signaling speeds.

At the core of the design is the low power Intel Pentium III "Tualatin" (0.13 micron) mobile processor in a FC-BGA package. The processor, with options of 1.2GHz or 800MHz, supports a 133MHz front side bus and 512 Kbytes of high-speed secondary cache. For increased reliability heat sinks are used in preference to fans for cooling the CPU. The PP 110/01x provides, soldered on board, up to 1 GByte of 133MHz ECC SDRAM that can be upgraded to 1.5 Gbytes via the onboard memory socket, plus 32 Mbytes of Application Flash memory and 512 Kbytes of battery backed SRAM. This board also provides an EIDE interface (up to Ultra-DMA1 00) for an optional on-board EIDE 2.5-inch disk drive or a CompactFlash(TM)/IBM® Microdrive(TM) carrier, both options maintaining a single slot solution.

Other features available are dual 10baseT/100base-TX/1000baseT Ethernet interfaces, graphics interface, keyboard/mouse interface, floppy disk interface, 3 RS232 serial channels, 1 USB port, parallel printer port, PC real-time clock, watchdog timer and long duration timer. LAN boot firmware is also included. An optional transition module, AD PP5/001, is available to facilitate applications requiring rear I/O connections.

For ease of integration, the PP 110/01x supports many of today's leading operating systems, including VxWorks®, Linux®, LynxOS®, Windows® 2000, Windows NT®, Windows® XP Embedded and Solaris(TM).

PP 110/0lx volume prices start from approximately $3,250
