Low-Jitter, Dual-Output Clock Generator Provides a Wide Frequency Range for High-Speed System Equipment

High-Performance, Dual-Output, Network Clock Synthesizer
o The MAX3674 is a low-jitter, dual-output clock generator with a wide frequency range.
o This device provides a high-frequency, low-jitter clock signal from the on-board, low-frequency crystal oscillator or external reference clock.
o To enable this performance, the MAX3674 utilizes Maxim's proprietary PLL architecture and an integrated VCO.
o The MAX3674 is ideal for high-speed clock systems, such as Ethernet, Fibre Channel, SONET/SDH, wireless base-station, and high-end server applications.

SUNNYVALE, CA-April 21, 2008-Maxim Integrated Products (Pink OTC Markets: MXIM) introduces the MAX3674 wide-frequency-range, dual-output clock generator for high-speed system equipment. This device utilizes a low-noise VCO and PLL architecture to generate a low, 5psRMS jitter output clock up to 1360MHz from a low-frequency reference clock provided by the on-board crystal oscillator or external LVCMOS clock. To reduce cost, it provides two differential LVPECL outputs for the same or different frequencies, thus eliminating one high-frequency crystal oscillator. Additionally, an I²C-compatible interface enables fine-tuning of the output frequency for frequency-margining testing, thus minimizing the complexity of system testing procedure. The MAX3674 is ideal for high-speed applications such as Ethernet switches/routers, storage-area-network switches, wireless base-station channel cards, and server clock generation.

The MAX3674 is fully specified over the -40°C to +85°C extended temperature range, and operates from a 3.3V ±5% supply. It is available in a lead-free, 48-pin LQFP package. Prices start at $12.00 (1000-up, FOB USA).

Maxim Integrated Products, a two billion dollar company, designs and manufactures ICs for analog and mixed-signal applications. The company has designed over 5400 products, more than any other analog semiconductor company, in the 25 years since its founding.
