Model 7259 RS-530 A/B Switch Monitors Data, Detects Loss of Signal, & Reports to Remote Control Device

Electro Standards Laboratories (ESL), Cranston, RI, has just introduced the PathWay® Model 7259 Dual Channel RS-530 A/B Switch, DB25 Interface with Exclusive Automatic Remote Control & Remote Monitoring. The Model 7259 provides two independent channels of A/B switch function. The A/B function permits access of either of two devices connected to ports A and B, to a single port, the COMMON port.

This A/B data switch is exclusively controlled remotely from a device connected to its REMOTE port. The Remote port has a custom interface DB25 connector. The status, monitoring and control signals present on this port allow the switch to be managed by a device capable of interpreting these signals and, based on these signals, issue control commands to be executed by the switch.

The switch position status is displayed on the front panel LED's. All (25) signal lines of the DB25 RS-530 interface connector are supported. The switched ports are transparent to all data. Switches are latching and maintain their position during power loss. Switch data activity and position may be monitored via the Remote port. Front panel LEDs display the current switch position and power status.
