Novatel Wireless Enters Insurance Telematics Market with the Enfora Spider MT 3000 Solution



SAN DIEGO - Novatel Wireless, Inc. (Nasdaq: NVTL), a leading provider of intelligent wireless networking solutions, today announces that Enfora, Inc., a Novatel Wireless company, is launching the Spider® MT 3000, a certified dual-band integrated device designed for passenger cars, service vans and light duty trucks. This new platform is purpose-built for the Usage Based Insurance (UBI), telematics, and fleet management markets.

The Spider MT 3000 is an innovative plug-and-play device with internal antennas and On-Board Diagnostics (OBDII). It supports a host of vehicle engine OBDII permitted protocols while still providing customizable Spider MT features including GPS location, ignition, geo-fencing, trip reporting and events. It also has built-in threshold events to capture metrics critical to effective fleet and insurance monitoring such as excessive engine speed, rapid acceleration, harsh braking, speed violations, and excessive idling.
