DSP Group's SoC Power SGW's Advanced Video-Over-ULE

DSP Group's Video-Over- ULE Solutions Offer Better Image Resolution and a Higher Frame Rate at an Affordable Price, Ideally Suited to IoT Applications

LOS ALTOS, Calif. – DSP Group®, Inc. (Nasdaq:DSPG), a leading global provider of wireless chipset solutions for converged communications, announced today that Shenzhen Guo Wei Electronics Co. (SGW) a designer and manufacturer of state-of-the-art cordless products, has chosen DSP Group's advanced ULE System On a Chip (SoC) solution for their new video-over-ULE design.

Using DECT Ultra Low Energy (ULE) systems for home video applications such as security and monitoring offers homeowners the benefits of high fidelity, long range, and ultra-low power consumption - which allows battery-operated systems to work for years. DSP Group, a pioneer in this area, provides solutions that build on the company's extensive experience and broad DECT and ULE product range.

In comparison to other RF technologies, ULE is a cost-effective platform that enables affordable video delivery products, without over-performance costs. Moreover, video-over-ULE products offer ultra-low current consumption, enabling a new generation of battery-operated cameras and displays with significantly increased standby time. With DECT/ULE's long range and dedicated frequency band that provides interference-free full home coverage, video-over-ULE is the ideal solution for the emerging IoT market, allowing video to be propagated to the cloud for applications ranging from baby and room monitors, through video door bells and other surveillance applications.

Video-over-ULE utilizes DSP Group's DHX family, a highly-integrated ULE SoC solution. DHX91 powers a portfolio of next generation IoT products, ranging from simple sensors and actuators to sophisticated voice- and video-enabled applications. Taking advantage of ULE/DECT's superior interference-free range, rich bandwidth and long battery life, DHX91 is suitable for both professional-serviced and DIY markets.

"DSP Group's solution for video-over-ULE enables us to provide consumers with better quality, higher-performance video products that feature dramatically lower power consumption," said Malcolm Paton, Global Marketing Director of SGW. "We are confident that this solution will result in new video products that meet our customer's expectations for quality, reliability and cost," he continued.

"We are excited to be working with a market leader like SGW, bringing best-in-class video-over-ULE products to market, based on our DECT/ULE chipset," said Daniel Estrakh, Cordless Product Director at DSP Group "By enabling better resolution and higher frame rate over ULE at low power, we're helping manufacturers like SGW meet growing consumer demands for affordable, high-quality battery-operated home monitoring and automation solutions," he concluded.

This solution will be presented at the European Utility Week Amsterdam on 4-6 November 2014 at DSP Group's meeting room
