Hitachi Power Tools Completely Redesigns its Line of Drywall Screwdrivers

NORCROSS, GA., February 23, 2005 - Hitachi Power Tools today announced its new line of screwdrivers that demonstrate Hitachi's ergonomic styling and pension for incorporating features that improve the experience of use for professionals. The Hitachi W6V4, W6VA4, W6VB3 and W6VM are engineered to offer the ultimate in both power and comfort and each offer the optimal balance of torque and speed to master repetitive use for the specific fastening application.

Collectively, the tools are equipped with powerful 6.6 Amp motors and 750 Watts of input power. The tools bodies and handles are covered in a soft, yet durable elastomer compound, which provides a comfortable and slip-resistant grip. The handles are angled outward in order to ergonomically conform to the way a hand grips the tool during repetitive use. Belt-hooks are incorporated onto the top of the bodies for convenience. Large 2-finger triggers are designed for comfort and control during operation and can be locked-on for continuous use, reducing user fatigue. Located for convenience above the triggers is the forward/reverse switch.

The gear cases and inner covers are constructed out of aluminum to add durability and increase tool life. Plastic covers keep the gear case from being scratched or damaged during extreme use. Each of the screwdrivers is equipped with a simple "turn of the nose cone" depth adjusting feature and detachable nose piece for easy depth adjustment and bit replacements. The 24.6 ft. power cords are unusually long to allow movement around a room without the hassle of relocating to different power outlets.

Specifically, the W6V4 VSR drywall screwdriver features a no-load speed of 0-4,500 RPM and a max torque of 81.5 in-lbs. It weighs just 3.1 lbs and is ideal for drywall applications. It comes with a driver bit, magnetic bit holder assembly, magnetic bit holder and sub stopper.
