Milwaukee, WI - J. G. Braun's new product the GlassWedge(TM) Dry Mount System for Glass Railing allows for the easy, fact and cost effective installation of glass railing. This system can reduce installation time of tempered glass railing panels by 75 percent.

The GlassWedge(TM) System permits the dry installation of ½ inch tempered glass in shoe moulding and takes the place of current installation processes that wet setting options such as quick setting expansion cement. With two simple components, the system self-centers, self-plumbs and the glass panels are set solidly in place in minutes. Unlike wet mount alternatives, the wedge assemblies may be removed just as easily. The GlassWedge System is currently only recommended for straight runs of railing.

The GlassWedge(TM) system has three major components: a plastic isolator channel, an aluminum wedge, and a pre-drilled aluminum shoe moulding. The shoe moulding is mounted per manufacturer instructions such that is structurally sound and vertically plum. The isolators are slipped over the bottom of the ½" tempered glass - spaced 24" on center. Insert glass and isolators into the shoe moulding channel. The aluminum wedges are then inserted into place and - following confirmation of alignment - the wedges are hammered into place using the GlassWedge(TM) chisel. If the need arises to replace or remove the panels, this can be accomplished with the GlassWedge(TM) removal tool.
