Advance's Dry-Film Capacitors For HID Ballasts Now Rated at 105°C

(November 19th, 2003 - Rosemont, Illinois) As part of an effort to provide continuous improvement within its broad HID ballast line, Advance announces that it has increased the case temperature rating of the dry metalized-film (dry-film) capacitors for its ballasts for metal halide, high-pressure sodium, mercury vapor, and low-pressure sodium lamps from 100°C to 105°C.

Superior to both 90°C-rated oil-filled equivalents as well as previous 100°C case temperature models, the new 105°C-rated dry-film capacitors enhance durability and provide greater freedom and design flexibility for HID fixture manufacturers, adding a critical 5°C additional margin of operating reliability.

Advance's dry-film capacitors are used with all HID ballasts utilizing capacitors rated 400-volts or less. Standard within all of Advance's dry-film capacitors are the additional benefits of compact size, thermoplastic construction, no exposed live parts, and UL/CSA approval.
