New AlphaStep Plus Programmable Driver and Stepping Motor Systems
Torrance, CA - Oriental Motor USA Corp. announces the expansion of the AlphaStep PLUS family of programmable driver and stepping motor systems. The AlphaStep PLUS is now available with motors in three frame sizes: 1.65 in. sq. (42 mm sq.), 2.36 in. sq. (60 mm sq.) and 3.35 in. sq. (85 mm sq.) for round shaft models or 3.54 in. sq. (90 mm sq.) for geared models. Motors with either zero backlash planetary (PN) or low backlash tapered hob (TH) gearheads have been added, boosting the AlphaStep PLUS holding torque range to 41.5 oz-in - 327 lb-in. All motors are also available with electromagnetic brakes.
The AlphaStep PLUS combines a stepping motor with a built-in resolver with an integrated programmable motion controller and driver. The controller and driver have been combined into the compact size of the original AlphaStep driver. The driver-controller platform can be programmed in four operation modes: positioning, mechanical home seeking, continuous motion and electrical home seeking.
User-friendly software allows the user to control and link up to 14 motion profiles in either incremental mode (relative distance specification) or absolute mode (absolute distance specification). The program command structure uses 86 commands. Each program can contain up to 64 lines. A PC or dumb terminal can be interconnected to the driver via an RS-232C communications port to select and program distance traveled (-8,388,608 to +8,388,608 pulses) and operating speed (10 Hz to 500 kHz pulses per second in 1 Hz increments).
