Microsemi Announces 150W Driver Transistor for Mode-S Avionics Transmitter Applications

Irvine, CA, Aug. 30, 2007-- Microsemi Corporation (Nasdaq: MSCC), a leading manufacturer of high performance analog mixed signal integrated circuits and high reliability semiconductor, has announced the release of a new 150W power driver transistor for Mode-S avionics transmitters.

Designated the MDS150, the new driver transistor is designed to complement Microsemi's MDS Series of high power transistors for Mode-S avionics applications

"With the success of our high power Mode-S transistors, we saw the need to design a driver product optimized for Mode-S pulsing. It exemplifies our commitment to support the avionics market by investing in new product developments," said Jim Zazkowski, Manager of Microsemi's Avionics & Defense Communications products in Santa Clara, California. "Taken together, our Mode-S series of devices (MDS150, MDS400, MDS800 and MDS1100) provide avionics designers with a total transmitter solution," he added.

The MDS150 provides 150W of output power at 1030/1090MHz with Mode-S pulsing (0.5uS on/off x128 burst). This Class C biased, bipolar transistor runs on V(cc) = 50V making it easy to use with existing power supplies running on 50-52V. The die utilizes gold metallization and integral emitter ballast resistors for maximum reliability.

Production quantities are available immediately through authorized distributors or direct from the factory. At quantities of 100 pieces, the unit price is $134.67. Datasheets are available on the Microsemi website: www.microsemi.com.
