Driver Test Station assesses driver strength, reaction times.

Press Release Summary:

Comprised of cockpit, driving aids, load sensor, electronics, and PC Software, AutoAdapt Menox Driver Test Station assesses strength and reaction time of disabled as well as able-bodied drivers' legs and hands. System provides facts that can be used in making decisions about driver capabilities and apparatus requirements. It performs 12 tests: 8 that measure power of pushing and pulling forces applied during various driving actions, and 4 that measure reaction times.

Original Press Release:

DSI Driving Systems Inc. to Demonstrate the New AutoAdapt Menox Driver Test Station at 2008 ADED Conference, August 1-5

July 24, 2008....DSI Driving Systems Inc. provides the technology necessary for disabled drivers to experience independence. At the 2008 ADED Conference in Kansas City, MO, August 1-5, we will be demonstrating the AutoAdapt Menox Driver Test Station. Consisting of a cockpit, driving aids, load sensor, electronics, and PC Software, the Driver Test Station assesses the strength and reaction time of both disabled and able-bodied drivers legs and hands.

Targeted for use by Evaluators, the AutoAdapt Menox Driver Test Station is used to determine a driver's strength and reaction times. The Test Station does not produce a pass/fail result, but rather provides the Evaluator with true facts that can be used in making decisions about driver capabilities and apparatus requirements. Twelve different tests are performed, eight that measure the power of pushing and pulling forces applied during various driving actions, and four tests that measure reaction times.

The measurement of power/force can be done in kilograms or pounds; accuracy rate is +/- 3.5%. Tests include:

-- Turning the steering wheel left with left, right or both hands.
-- Turning the steering wheel right with left, right or both hands.
-- Pushing force of left hand during braking.
-- Pulling or "rocking" force of left hand during acceleration.
-- Pushing force of right hand during braking.
-- Pulling force of right hand during acceleration.
-- Force applied on brake pedal with both left and right leg.
-- Force applied on accelerator pedal with right or left foot.

Reaction Time tests include:

-- Reaction time of feet - the time it takes to move the foot from full acceleration to full braking.
-- Reaction time of the left hand - how fast the left hand moves the hand control from full acceleration to full braking.
-- Reaction time of the right hand - how fast the right hand moves the hand control from full acceleration to full braking.
-- A 6-point test that measures and compares the reaction time between six different points: left had acceleration and braking, right had acceleration and braking, and pedals acceleration and braking.
