Yaskawa's Compact, Veratile V7 Drives Provide Both Open Loop Vector and V/Hz Control

WAUKEGAN, Ill., Aug. 12, 2002 -- Yaskawa's new V7 provides both open loop vector and volts/hertz control from a compact, yet full-featured, high-performance adjustable frequency drive.

The V7 allows selection of either Volts/Hertz or open loop vector control for speed/torque performance to suit the application. In addition to tighter speed regulation, open loop vector control provides higher torque at lower speeds.

As a full-featured, yet low cost compact drive, the V7 is ideal for sophisticated equipment control in applications including fans, pumps, conveyors, compressors, mixers, agitators, grinders and material handling installations.

Features & Functions

The Yaskawa V7 is simple to install and set up, with easy access to operating constants via the Digital Operator's LED readouts. Operating conditions including output frequency and current are also monitored through the Digital Operator.

Capabilities for digital programming of almost 200 parameters provide true versatility, while a digital pulse train input ensures precise frequency entry -- an important feature for speed/follower applications.

Seven standard multifunction inputs access 17 preset speeds. Analog input, a multifunction Form-C relay output, two multifunction open collector outputs, an analog output and an RS-485 network communication port are also provided as
standard features.

V7N Provides Embedded DeviceNet

The Yaskawa V7N drive is a version of the V7 which features DeviceNet communications interfacing embedded directly on the control board of the proven V7 drive hardware. The V7N drive delivers remarkable performance and excellent reliability in a small compact drive, for less cost than drives using optional plug-in communications cards. Installation is also easier and faster.

DeviceNet offers a simple, low-cost solution to networking requirements. It provides an effective communication network for computers, programmable controllers and drives, as well as industrial devices including operator interfaces, limit and
photoelectric switches and motor starters.

V74X Features NEMA Type 4X/12 Enclosure

The V74X incorporates the full features of the Yaskawa V7 drive into an integral NEMA Type 4X/12, IP66-rated enclosure suitable for harsh washdown and dust-tight applications.

These applications include installations where drives are exposed to severe environmental conditions or hose-directed water and indoor installations where dust is encountered or accumulated. Additionally the drive's powder-coated heatsink helps protect against erosion by harsh cleaning solvents used in food processing areas.

Yaskawa's DriveWizard Software

Yaskawa's innovative DriveWizard Software, available as an option for the V7 family, provides an effective tool for online and offline configuration, monitoring and archiving to a personal data assistant (PDA) or PC.

The Yaskawa V7 drive family is globally compatible, conforming to CE, UL and Cul requirements. Drives are available in ratings of 1/8 to 10 HP at 230 VAC and 1/2 to 15 HP at 460V.

Yaskawa is the world's largest producer of AC drives. The drives business of Yaskawa Electric America, Inc. operates from facilities in New Berlin, Wis.; Waukegan and Buffalo Grove, Ill.; Los Angeles and offices throughout the Americas.
