Delta Enters New Era with ShopMaster(TM) Cordless Drill and Driver Lineup
JUNE 20, 2002 - NEW YORK CITY, NY - Delta introduced four new cordless drills/drivers as part of its ShopMaster line - the model CL096 (9.6 Volt), model CL120 (12 Volt), model CL144 (14.4 Volt), and model CL180 (18 Volt) - today during a press conference at New York City's Hotel InterContinental. Delta Product Manager Todd Craft said, "These new tools embody the genesis of the Delta ShopMaster brand of portable and handheld products. We've provided a full range of drills and drivers with an excellent combination of features and capabilities at very competitive prices." In the new cordless drill/driver ShopMaster lineup, Delta developed a power range suited for and used frequently by both amateurs and professionals. All four models tout similar features developed to fulfill the challenges users face when working on projects, either big or small. Each of the four Delta cordless drill/drivers feature a keyless chuck for quick and easy bit changes. The 18 Volt model employs a 1/2" chuck, while the 9.6 Volt, 12 Volt, and 14.4 Volt all incorporate a 3/8" chuck. A 20-position adjustable clutch on each model allows users to choose from 20 available torque settings to match the desired torque with each specific application, and avoid screw stripping. Variable speed, reversing technology allows for fine speed control during drilling and driving. An ergonomically designed and textured rubber grip maximizes user comfort and control, while screwdriver bit clips found on each side of the tool provide secure and convenient bit storage. Additionally, a built-in bubble level delivers extra accuracy while drilling and driving, making it easy to find horizontal orientation. A two-speed planetary gearbox on the model CL120, model CL144, and model CL180 provides two speed ranges settings - a high RPM speed range for high speed drilling, and a low RPM / high torque range for high torque driving. The model CL120 (12 Volt) has a high-speed range of 0-1050, and a low speed range of 0-315 RPM. The model CL144 (14.4 Volt) has a high-speed RPM range of 0-1100 RPM, and a low speed range of 0-330 RPM, while the model CLI80 (18 Volt) has a high-speed range of 0-1300 RPM, and a low speed range of 0-350 RPM. Each Delta cordless drill/driver model comes complete with a battery charger, two extended run time batteries (the 9.6 Volt model comes with one extended run time battery), two double-ended screwdriver bits, a plastic carrying case, and an operator's manual. The 14.4 Volt and 18 Volt kits include a one-hour fast charge battery charger that quickly provides backup power for the most demanding jobs. The new Delta cordless drill/drivers will be available in October 2002 and are expected to sell for approximately $40 (model CL096), $60 (model CL120), $80 (model CL144), and $100 (model CL180).
