Dril-Quip, Inc. Announces Start-Up of First Multiplex Subsea Control System and Subsea Manifold

HOUSTON, March 17 / -- Dril-Quip, Inc. (NYSE:DRQ) today announced the successful installation and start-up of its first subsea control system, a "signal on power" multiplex system that controls both a satellite subsea tree and subsea manifold, also a newly introduced Dril-Quip product. The control system was designed and manufactured by Dril-Quip at its Houston operations. The subsea manifold was supplied by Dril-Quip's European subsidiary located in Aberdeen, Scotland.

The subsea control system and manifold were supplied to Total E&P UK PLC for operation in the Forvie North Field, located in the northern North Sea, approximately 440 km northeast of Aberdeen, Scotland. The system has been designed and supplied with expansion capability to allow additional wells to be connected at a later date.

Dril-Quip developed its state of the art subsea control system at its Houston, Texas headquarters location and has prototype tested a complete line of subsea control systems including "fiber optics" multiplex systems. The North Sea installation was the first field installation of both the Dril-Quip subsea control system and subsea manifold system.

With the addition of these newly developed products, Dril-Quip is positioning itself to participate in large-scale integrated offshore projects.
