Dramatic ROI for Clean Burn Boiler

LEOLA, PENN. - Shop owner Marc Davis purchased his Clean Burn boiler in 2003 to recycle the 3,500 gallons of waste motor oil generated by his eight-bay garage each year. By 2007 the unit had paid for itself. Davis now saves approximately $7,000 yearly on his heating costs and keeps his 8,500-square-foot shop warm throughout the cold Wisconsin winter months.

"We recycle 10 to 15 gallons of oil a day that we transform into free heat using the Clean Burn boiler," says Davis, founder of Marc's Garage in Cambridge, Wisc. "That heat is saved up and used through in-floor radiant heating during the winter months and has totally eliminated my heating bills."

The free heat has also made it possible for Davis to have a clear, easy-access entryway to his garage even during the worst Wisconsin winter weather. An outside concrete slab of 20-feet by 70-feet receives radiant sub-surface heating from oil recycled through the Clean Burn unit's boiler. This in-floor heating melts away snow and ice so the exterior of the building has a clear, safe access area that requires no shoveling.

"Not having to chip away at ice or shovel off snow from around our doors is such a luxury," says Davis. "I've recommended these used oil recycling units to others in our area and would purchase another one again in a heartbeat. It's a dream to maintain and clean, plus it serves a positive environmental mission of reusing a natural resource."

The four technicians at Marc's Garage appreciate the warmth of their work surroundings during the frigid winter months. "It doesn't matter what the temperature is outside because the interior is kept comfortable with the free heat from the Clean Burn boiler," says Davis. "Before getting this unit I had another brand. It was just ok --- it required a great deal of maintenance. The Clean Burn unit was like stepping up to a Cadillac version. I've received a fast return-on-investment for this unit and wouldn't think about having a garage operation without it."

Davis purchased his Clean Burn unit from DSI Recycling Systems. For additional information on Clean Burn furnaces and boilers available from DSI Recycling Systems, call 800-824-4115 or visit www.dsirecycling.com.

Engineered to burn used motor oils generated by cars, trucks, heavy equipment, boats and other vehicles, Clean Burn furnaces and boilers transform used-oil into free heat. More than 80,000 Clean Burn products located throughout the world burn millions of gallons of used-oils each year on-site, at the point of generation. This volume of used-oil would otherwise be transported on highway systems and pose a considerable risk to spills and/or contamination to the environment.

Clean Burn is an ENERGY STAR® partner. The company holds numerous industry certifications and works with the U.S. government, the Environmental Protection Agency and various associations to help coordinate the establishment of standards and regulations related to heat recovery and recycling efforts involving used motor oils.
