New Drain Inspection "One Size Fits Most" Camera Announced by Medit Inc.

Good news has arrived for those pipe and drain inspectors who are looking for a cost efficient, versatile, and compact size drain inspection camera. Medit Inc. in collaboration with the German company G. Drexl added Gecko 3000-S to its product line ( for more information go to: http://www.fiberscope.net/drain-camera-gecko-3000-s.html ). The innovative device catches the eye right away: it is endowed with a generous 35 meter (approximately 115 ft.) super flexible Kevlar braided push cable and a “one size fits most” 24mm (1’’) camera head. To further increase the head versatility, the device comes with an aluminum skid, which centers the head within pipes up to 6’’ in diameter and protects the most sensitive part of the tool from scratches and other physical damage. The minimum pipe diameter to inspect with the new camera is 1.2’’ (straight pipes). Due to Kevlar coating of the push cable and its unsurpassable flexibility the unit is able to take 90 degree bends in pipes from 2’’ in diameter. Kevlar is commonly used for manufacturing of bullet proof vests and other similar gear. The camera head boasts 15 LEDs suited for even the most demanding inspection criteria. Ten of the LEDs are super bright, high powered ones. They provide excellent illumination for inspecting objects at a distance. Five other LEDs produce even illumination for close up inspections.

The main highlights of Gecko 3000-S are a color 5.6” LCD monitor enclosed in a metal case for better protection equipped with a sun shield, variable height adjustments for the monitor, a digital video recorder with a remote control to capture video files, an onscreen foot counter, a rechargeable battery pack for increased portability, a 87 degree field of view, and an optional 33 kHz sonde or beacon, necessary to determine  the location of the camera head of the unit at any given time at a depth of up to 3 meters, or 10 feet (a portable location wand needs to be purchased separately).

Gecko 3000-S is the best fit for a wide range of drain and small channel inspections due to its compact size and versatility. In addition, it is well suited for sewage tanks, ventilation shafts, chimneys, foundations, cavities, and civil engineering applications.  The camera is German designed and made. It is distinct from many competing cameras with its amazing reliability and longevity thanks to durable materials that it is made of and its scrupulous and thoughtful design. It should be noted that the new drain inspection camera comes with a 3 year manufacturer’s warranty.
