DR Systems to Exhibit New Unity RIS/PACS Platform at RSNA

SAN DIEGO--Sept. 15, 2006--DR Systems will be exhibiting its new Unity RIS/PACS platform at RSNA 2006. Unity covers the entire medical imaging exam workflow process. As with previous DR Systems RIS/PACS, it also offers features that go beyond traditional RIS/PACS capabilities.

DR Systems, the leading independent provider of RIS/PACS solutions, will be at Booth 1919 in the South Building, Hall A, from Sunday, Nov. 26 to Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006. RSNA 2006 will be held Nov. 26 through Dec. 1 in Chicago.

Notable features of the Unity RIS/PACS include:

o New data conversion tools for legacy RIS/PACS replacement

o Enhanced Web-based scheduling capabilities

o RIS workflow management, including patient pre-authorization,
patient flow tracking, film tracking, and task management

o New patent-pending image display methods for improved accuracy and
efficiency

o Enhanced integrated mammography reading, tracking, film
digitizing, and archiving

o Enhanced automated exam-specific reporting capabilities

o Enhanced transcription capabilities, including Web-based
transcription

o Enhanced multi-database and multi-server capabilities

o Enhanced PACS access from EMRs and HIS Web portals

The Unity RIS/PACS has also been designed to provide an advanced medical imaging and information management system infrastructure for regional health information organizations (RHIOs). DR Systems PACS form the primary radiology backbone of the Santa Barbara Care Data Exchange, the nation's first and best-known RHIO.

In addition, DR Systems is an industry leader in developing an integrated diagnostic reading/reporting/archiving solution for mammography. A podium presentation at the annual conference of the National Consortium of Breast Centers (NCBC), held in March 2006, described the successful integration of mammography with a DR Systems PACS at Sansum-Santa Barbara Medical Foundation Clinic in Santa Barbara, Calif.

Through a dealer agreement with InSiteOne, Inc., DR Systems also offers integrated on-site and off-site secure DICOM storage for disaster recovery as one of its archive product options. The affordable, pay-as-you-go outsourced storage enables hospitals and diagnostic centers to avoid a significant capital equipment expense while still enjoying the advantages of digital image management.

Other capabilities of the Unity RIS/PACS include:

o Management reports

o EMR integration

o Image acquisition

o Technologist Q/C

o Automated report preparation and distribution

o Dictation

DR System's mission is to enhance the clinical and financial success of its customers, while offering the lowest overall cost of ownership in the industry. Many sites report that their total expense per exam for all service, support, equipment, upgrades, and expansions -- minus the depreciated value of the existing hardware -- ranges from $1.20 to $3.50 per exam. Those figures are as little as 10 percent of what most non-DR System sites are spending, through multiple vendors.

The Unity RIS/PACS has been at the center of many RIS/PACS replacement projects around the nation. DR Systems has managed a number of successful data migration projects in which data has been transferred from legacy systems to the Unity RIS/PACS. The company has also expanded its other professional services in the replacement market.

Manufacturers whose PACS have been replaced by DR Systems products include GE, Siemens, Brit Systems, and InPhact. DR Systems has replaced RIS by GE, Siemens, ProgRis, Medfax, Amicas, RisLogic/Merge, and IDX, and reporting systems by Dictaphone, Lanier, Powerscribe, and Talk.

DR Systems was recently named the leading PACS vendor for mid-year 2006 by KLAS, topping all other PACS providers, including McKesson, GE Medical Systems, Siemens, Philips, and Amicas. One hundred percent of DR Systems customers surveyed by KLAS said they would buy from DR Systems again, and would also recommend DR Systems to others.

KLAS is a prominent research and consulting firm that specializes in monitoring and reporting the performance of healthcare information technology vendors, including PACS companies.

DR Systems has also been named #1 PACS Vendor for six consecutive quarters (October 2004 - January 2006) by MD Buyline, a leading source of information on medical technology and informatics.

"The Unity RIS/PACS is our most advanced comprehensive radiology solution yet," said Rick Porritt, DR Systems' President and CEO. "Where other systems `bolt on' most of their RIS/PACS capabilities, our systems are fully integrated, which leads to far greater reliability. From a work standpoint, that also means much better efficiency and productivity, which is a big reason why institutions implement RIS/PACS in the first place."
