Dow Corning to Introduce New Solutions for Water-Based Coatings at ICE

MIDLAND, MICHIGAN, USA - Dow Corning is introducing two new low-cost antifoams and a new water repellent for waterborne systems at the 2006 International Coatings Expo (ICE). The expo takes place November 1 through 3 at the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.

New Dow Corning® 76 and 77 Additives are effective, low-cost foam-control solutions for a variety of waterborne formulations, including flexographic inks, printing varnishes, and coatings for wood and parquet flooring, as well as plastic and protective coatings. They are designed to help users eliminate foam, maintain high film quality and achieve regulatory compliance.

Tim Pajk, Dow Corning Application Engineering and Technical Service Representative, will discuss the new additives in his Exhibitor Spotlight presentation, "New Silicon-Based Antifoams for Coatings." The presentation is at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, November 2, at the Exhibitor Spotlight stage in the exhibit hall.

New Dow Corning® IE-6694 Water Repellent Emulsion is a penetrating, low-VOC water repellent that can be used to formulate water-based, water-repellent primers, paints and coatings for porous construction materials. It can also be incorporated directly into concrete blocks, artificial stones and other building components during manufacture.

Information about Dow Corning's complete line of silicon-based resins and binders, process aids and performance modifiers for paints, inks and coatings will be available at Dow Corning booth number 1418, adjacent to the ICE Cyber Cafe©. Dow Corning is sponsoring the Cyber Cafe© so attendees can stay connected to home and business while attending the expo.

Additionally, in conjunction with ICE, volunteers from Dow Corning will join volunteers from FSCT and Habitat for Humanity to "help rebuild New Orleans" by participating in a local Habitat building project.
