Douglas Electrical Components Ultra-High Voltage Feedthroughs Help Advance Protein Biomarker Research

30,000 volt dc feedthroughs supply power to MALDI TOF mass spectrometers

RANDOLPH, N.J. - Douglas Electrical Components (DECo) (www.douglaselectrical.com) has developed customized wire feedthroughs to supply power, controls and monitoring into the high-vacuum, high-voltage environment of a line of MALDI TOF (matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time of flight) mass spectrometers used in protein biomarker research.

Each unit requires six wire feedthroughs supplying 30,000 vdc, six additional wire feedthroughs supplying 15,000 vdc, and 12 additional wire and coaxial feedthroughs providing control of active elements and signal monitoring.

"These advanced instruments require lots of power at extremely high voltage, and a large number of sensors penetrating a vacuum environment. Douglas Electrical is pleased to help enable the science of early disease detection and additional benefits associated with MALDI TOF technology through our line of feedthroughs," said Ed Douglas, president, Douglas Electrical.
