Double-Sided Tapes suit touch screen assembly applications.

Press Release Summary:

ARclean® 90178 and 90176 are 0.0035 and 0.005 in. thick non-corrosive tapes that provide perimeter spacer bonding in resistive touch screen and other similar electronic devices. They utilize electronically-clean, acrylic acid-free adhesive, and have low outgassing of VOCs. Tapes offer resistance to aging with ability to withstand temperature and humidity extremes. Both have polyester film carrier as dielectric barrier between bonded conductive surfaces.

Adhesives Research, Inc. Offers Two New Electronically Clean Adhesives for Touch Screen Assembly Applications

GLEN ROCK, Pa. (January 23, 2004) - Adhesives Research, Inc., a leading developer and manufacturer of custom pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes, coatings and specialty film products, offers ARclean® 90178 and ARclean® 90176, two next-generation electronically clean, low-outgassing adhesives with improved adhesive conformability designed for perimeter spacer bonding in resistive touch screens and other similar electronic devices.

Adhesives are commonly used around the perimeter when assembling the two conductive planes in resistive touch screens. However, conventional adhesives can contribute to corrosion and oxidation in these devices, affecting electrical performance. ARclean® electronically clean adhesives used as a perimeter spacer tape preserve linearity and have virtually no significant effect on electrical performance because of their non-corrosive and low outgassing properties.

ARclean® 90178 and ARclean® 90176 are double-sided tapes manufactured with Adhesive Research's electronically clean, acrylic acid-free adhesive that feature improved adhesive conformability and reliable environmental durability. These tapes have low extractable anions and low outgassing of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and offer excellent resistance to environmental aging with the ability to withstand temperature and humidity extremes.

Adhesives Research's electronically clean adhesives reduce fogging and minimize corrosion, which preserves linearity of the delicate conductive oxide (ITO) surfaces and circuitry in touch screen devices. ARclean® 90178 is 0.0035" thick and ARclean® 90176 is 0.005" thick, both with the consistent caliper necessary for spacer application. Both products incorporate a polyester film carrier as an assured dielectric barrier between the bonded conductive surfaces.

Adhesives Research also offers optically clear adhesive technology for touch screen assembly and electrically conductive adhesives for interconnectivity. The diverse product line of ARclear® optically clear transfer adhesives includes permanent, strippable and silicone adhesives for virtually defect-free bonding of flexible-to-flexible and flexible-to-rigid materials, as well as custom coating of optically clear adhesives onto specified or supplied substrates. ARclad® electrically conductive adhesives have excellent bonding strength and also demonstrate excellent stability and reliability for touch screen interconnections to ITO and conductive surfaces.
