Double Sheet Detector uses single probe approach.

Press Release Summary:

Measuring change in signal strength proportional to thickness, Model DS160 monitors nonferrous metals such as stainless steel, copper, and aluminum foil with one probe. This enables detector to have sensor installed within destacking pickup mechanism. Built with circuit that permits non-contact detection at distances of 25+ mm, product is calibrated with single sheet, then automatically calculates double value and sets reject threshold.

Double Sheet Detection Single Probe

Stainless Steel, Aluminum Foil, Copper and other Non-ferrous metals

Prime Controls, Inc. is pleased to introduce a new Double Sheet Detector. It monitors nonferrous metals such as stainless steel, copper and aluminum foil with only a single probe. This single probe approach enables the detector to have a sensor installed within a destacking pickup mechanism. Early detection in the process makes it possible to react sooner or reverse the direction of the sheet back to the stack for another cycle. This detection system is ideal for robotic sheet handling, destackers, blank presses, and welders. The Model DS160 Double Sheet Detector measures a change in signal strength proportional to the thickness of non-ferrous metal. In addition it has a highly sensitive circuit that permits non-contact detection at distances of 25 mm or more from the metal.

It requires 120 or 240 Volts AC @ 50-60 Hz to power it. It is as simple to calibrate as pressing a pushbutton switch with a single metal sheet present in front of its probe. The DS160 automatically calculates the double value and sets the reject threshold. Double metal detection de-energizes an internal form "C" output relay. The relay contact handles loads up to 10 amps @ 240 Volt AC.
