New Andersen® Woodwright(TM) Double-hung Window Celebrates Traditional Style

BAYPORT, Minn. (Jan. 21, 2003)- Inspired by history, the new Andersen® 400 Series Woodwright(TM) double-hung window delivers time-honored, traditional styling combined with the latest technology and performance benefits. The new window is rich with enhancements to appeal to homeowners who desire a classic-looking home with today's conveniences, architects who value design flexibility, and builders and remodelers who appreciate custom sizing and ease of installation.

"As we commemorate Andersen's 100th anniversary in 2003, we've introduced a window that celebrates architectural authenticity," said Phil Donaldson, vice president of marketing and business development at Andersen. "The Woodwright double-hung replicates turn-of-the-century design, modernized to meet the performance expectations of today's customers."

Design Features
The Andersen Woodwright window is loaded with classic design features that emulate old-fashioned double-hung window details.
o Completely re-engineered sash features authentic-looking mortise-and-tenon joints (versus mitered joints found on most windows today), a tall bottom rail commonly found on traditional windows, and a beautiful chamfer milling detail along the check rail.
o New divided lights and grilles deliver more options for achieving traditional style -- including full divided light, Finelight(TM) grilles between the glass, removable wood interior grilles, and high-profile exterior grilles. Each offers a range of patterns, finishes, colors and widths.
o More interior wood choices including pine, maple and oak are available to match the home's decor.
o New wood jamb liner provides the warmth of a real wood interior.

Matching picture and transom windows, and curved-top venting windows are available to create distinctive window combinations.

As part of Andersen's 400 Series product line, the new double-hung window also features the Perma-Shield® low-maintenance exterior available in four colors (White, Sandtone, Terratone®, Forest Green), energy-efficient High-Performance(TM) Low-E glass, and the performance, service and 20/10 year limited
warranty customers have come to expect from Andersen.

Convenience Features
In addition to its aesthetic enhancements, the Woodwright double-hung features conveniences to ease ordering, installation and maintenance.
o While its 99 standard sizes will fit most rough openings, a new custom-sizing option is now available to make window replacement a snap. Contractors and homeowners can order windows custom-made in 1/8-inch increments for an exact fit within existing window openings.
o Optional factory-applied 6 9/16-inch extension jambs are available to save time during installation.
o For demanding coastal and commercial projects, Andersen offers a factory-applied DP50 wind load upgrade option.
o The new window includes a convenient tilt-wash feature, allowing homeowners to easily tilt the window inside for cleaning.
