New Elmo IP Network PTZ Dome Features Browser-Based Operation for Remote Monitoring Using the Internet



PLAINVIEW, NY, OCTOBER 31, 2002- The new ELMO PTC-201C IP Dome Camera, with a built-in web server, features browser-based operation (Internet Explorer(TM) or Netscape Navigator(TM)). The camera is IP-addressable and can monitor any location on a PC from almost anywhere, at any time on the internet by anyone with an internet connection and a compatible browser. This low-priced, high-performance PTZ camera for light-duty applications can be easily integrated into large systems. It provides simultaneous access to up 10 users.

The camera produces high-quality motion images with VGA and QVGA resolution with refresh rates up to 30 frames per second. Images can be saved as JPEG files for transmission over the network. It offers networking protocol capabilities such as TCP/IP, ARP, UDP, ICMP, FTP, HTTP and telnet and is compatible with Ethernet.

The high-resolution camera with 105-degree/second pan/tilt speed covers wide areas and captures every detail for effective surveillance. The ability to view high quality internet images from almost any location makes it easy to monitor patients in care facilities, critical locations in convenience stores and in most surveillance situations. Small business owners can dial in and monitor key areas of their operation on their laptops.

A high-quality optical system combined with advanced high-resolution DSP circuitry delivers video with remarkable clarity in almost any lighting environment. A 22x high-speed optical zoom, full auto-focus or manual capability, resolution in excess of 480 TVL and 1-lux min. illumination assure the detail necessary for accurate security identification. The camera has a sweeping pan of 300 degrees horizontally and a tilt of 120 degrees vertically. In addition, the PTC-201C IP offers a wide variety of settings including: backlight compensation, iris settings, motion-detection, white balance, AGC and edge enhancement (aperture) compensation. The settings can be easily fine-tuned using the remote control and on-screen menu.

Each camera unit is user-programmable for up to six pre-set positions and eight speed settings providing the flexibility to capture details from every angle, close-ups of individuals and wide-angle shots. The On Screen display(OSD) simplifies set-up configuration. The PTC-201C IP comes with RS-485 capabilities for network control and is equipped with ceiling mounting hardware.

User-friendly operation is assured via the use of a standard IR (infrared) remote control unit with both front and rear infrared receivers on the camera body for continuous circular control coverage of large areas. As many as 223 cameras can be connected in a 'daisy-chain' or star configuration for ease of installation.
