The module provides fast and easy integration of imaging, archiving and records management functionality within a SharePoint Portal Server-based environment to help companies quickly and easily achieve their goals for enterprise content management, document security, and compliance.
Alchemy Web Parts are an effective 'on-ramp' to SharePoint users for scanned images captured from multi-function products (MFPs), document scanners and fax servers, and also provides easy access to many other diverse document types such as PDFs, emails, computer reports, and CAD files. Alchemy Web Parts also add the ability to archive documents from a SharePoint document library into a secure repository under records management control, as well as search, view and retrieve those documents all from within SharePoint user interfaces.
Lazurde, one of the world's largest gold and jewelry manufacturers, recently implemented the product with help from Captaris partner Netways. "The new functionality greatly speeds our processes," said Nassir Atik, systems and development manager of Lazurde, located in Saudi Arabia. "With Alchemy Web Parts for SharePoint we have been able to leverage existing infrastructure which will help us quickly reach a return on investment."
"Alchemy extends the powerful collaboration capabilities of SharePoint Portal Server 2003 by adding long-term archive and records management functionality that can be expanded based on growing business needs," said Seth Patton, Group Product Manager, SharePoint Products and Technologies, Microsoft Corp. "The integration between Alchemy and the Microsoft Office system allows end users with access rights to view and work with information in its native format directly without navigating away from the single user interface provided by SharePoint Portal Server 2003."
