DMOS Motor Driver suits applications with two DC motors.

Press Release Summary:

Supplied in Pb-free, 6 x 6 x 0.90 mm package, A3995 DMOS full-bridge PWM motor driver controls 2 dc motors at currents up to 2.4 A. It can drive voltages to 36 V and has 2 independent fixed off-time PWM current regulators that operate in fast or slow decay mode. Internal synchronous rectification control circuitry promotes power dissipation, and PHASE, ENABLE, and MODE inputs are provided for controlling dc motor speed, torque, direction, brake, and coast functions.

Allegro® Microsystems, Inc. Announces a New DMOS Dual Full-Bridge PWM Motor Driver

Efficient Motor Driver Designed for Applications With Two DC Motors

Worcester, MA; December 22, 2006 - Allegro® MicroSystems, Inc. announces a new DMOS full-bridge PWM motor driver designed to control two DC motors at currents up to 2.4 A. Capable of drive voltages up to 36 V, the Allegro A3995 includes two independent fixed off-time PWM current regulators that operate in either fast or slow decay mode, determined by the MODE input. This new motor driver is targeted at the office automation and industrial markets.

Internal synchronous rectification control circuitry is provided to improve power dissipation during PWM operation. PHASE, ENABLE, and MODE inputs are provided for use in controlling the speed, torque, direction, and brake and coast functions of a DC motor. Protection features include thermal shutdown with hysteresis, undervoltage lockout (UVLO), and crossover current protection. Special power-up sequencing is not required.

Allegro's 3995 is supplied in a lead (Pb) free 36L QFN package with exposed power tab for enhanced thermal dissipation. It has a 6 mm x 6 mm footprint and 0.90 mm nominal height. The A3995 is priced at $2.23 in quantities of 1,000 and has a 12-week typical lead-time.
