DME Now Offering Wider Range of Sizes in Top and Side Interlock Product Lines

Precision manufactured components made from Melonite offer greater wear resistance

Madison Heights, Mich. – With the addition of new sizes to DME's comprehensive offering of durable top and side interlocks, moldmakers now have more design options than ever before.

DME's Black and Gold top interlocks and Black and Gold side interlocks provide more positive alignment of mold plates for longer due to a surface treatment of Melonite, a telluride mineral of nickel that improves wear and corrosion resistance. The treatment makes the components more durable than competitors' products.

With the expansion of sizes, DME now offers a more comprehensive range of smaller-sized top interlocks. The new sizes of male and female widths range from 1 to 2.5 inches, complementing existing widths that run from 3 to 3.5 inches. The company also now offers smaller sizes of side interlocks, as well as one new large size. The two new smaller sizes include a male and female width of 1 inch and 1.25 inches, as well as a new larger-sized width of 6 inches.

"This expansion of top and side interlock sizes was in high demand and designed to support our customers' continued success," said John Harding, Manager, Global Sourcing. "These new offerings will save labor costs, as well as allow more mold designers in a wider range of applications to take advantage of these precision components."

Each component can be replaced independently of the others, eliminating the need to swap out an entire set as traditional interlocks require. Male top and side interlocks are made from AISI H13 steel and heat treated to 40-44 HRC. Female top and side interlocks are made from A2 steel and core hardened to 58-62 HRC.
