Worthington Steelpac Distribution Pallet to Debut at Interphex 2008

Open briefing on benefits and features of the steel pallet to be held March 26 at 3:30 p.m.

(Columbus, Ohio) March 18, 2008 - Worthington Steelpac will debut its new cleanroom compatible, steel distribution pallet at Interphex 2008 with a briefing, open to media and attendees, March 26 at 3:30 p.m. at the company's exhibit - #1614.

Worthington Steelpac announced last month it would begin mass production of the new Worthington Steelpac Distribution Pallet in March. It's the first light weight, flame-resistant steel pallet designed to meet Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) capacity and compatibility standards.

"In the final 12 months of testing with big box retailers, consumer packaged goods companies and industrial manufacturers, the steel distribution pallet had less than a five percent damage rate, which is five times less than the average damage rate of a traditional plastic or wood pallet," said Jon Holthaus, sales manager for Worthington Steelpac.

The stronger, more durable steel pallet provides material handling managers a way to reduce shipping costs per trip compared to plastic or wood pallets. On average, a company using 500 pallets can save an average of $10,000 a year by adopting the Worthington Steelpac Distribution Pallet.

Made of the most recycled material on Earth, the Worthington Steelpac Distribution Pallet is 100% cleanroom compatible. It is washable, does not attract or harbor insects and works well with automated palletizers because it won't crack or splinter. Additionally, the pallet prevents rust, is flame retardant and has superior racking strength compared to traditional pallets.

The Worthington Steelpac Distribution Pallet, made of galvanized steel, measures 48" x 40" x 5.5", and has four-way fork lift and pallet jack access. It features a fully-welded assembly without fasteners that gives it more than 3,500 pounds of unsupported racking capacity and 40,000 pounds of static load. The pallet weighs 63 lbs., 10 lbs lighter than comparable wood pallets.
