New Distance Measuring Sensor from Sharp
Improvements in performance and package size has led to the introduction of Sharp's new GP2Y0D340K, a compact 9.6mm x 15 mm x 8.7mm standard distance measuring sensor with a range of 10 to 40 cm. Start-up Delay is only 10 msec with 7msec response time so the sensor can be cycled ON/OFF in less time. Other key features include 35 mA current consumption and a trigger distance of 40 cm. Applications include battery operated mobile devices, industrial automation and robotics, as well as electronic sanitary equipment such as faucets, soap dispensers, towel dispensers, and hand dryers. Available now at approximately $4 each in quantities of 10,000 pieces. A customized version of the GP2Y0D340K, available in 50,000 piece quantities, can be modified to adjust the Trigger Distance (10 to 40 cm) and current consumption based on application requirements.
