Leadis Technology Enriches Color STN Display Driver Portfolio with 262K Color and 65K Color Drivers for Mobile Handset Main Displays

SUNNYVALE, Calif., March 29 -- Leadis Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:LDIS), a leading analog and mixed-signal developer of semiconductor solutions for mobile and consumer electronics devices, today announced sample availability of two new color STN driver ICs: the LDS195, a 262K color driver with integrated controller supporting 128 (RGB) x 160 resolution displays, and the LDS194, a 65K color driver with integrated controller supporting 98 (RGB) x 70 and 98 (RGB) x 64 resolution displays. The third and fourth in a family of color STN LCD drivers built on advanced CSTN process technology, both devices implement a mixed PWM (Pulse Width Modulation)/FRC (Frame Rate Control) architecture to facilitate high quality video rendering and Multiple Line Addressing to enable fast screen response times for additional visual augmentation while simultaneously reducing power consumption. With rich color capability and on-board full frame memory, the LDS195 and LDS194 produce vivid, high-contrast video and low power images for today's multimedia mobile handsets.

"The LDS194 and LDS195 continue our advanced technology line of low power, video-optimized CSTN display drivers," said Paul Novell, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "According to DisplaySearch, over 25% of this year's mobile handset display shipments will be based on CSTN technology, and Leadis is pleased to offer a rich portfolio of products to support this market."

About the LDS194 and LDS195, the LDS194 65K color and LDS195 262K color STN LCD driver ICs are highly-integrated high-performance devices that incorporate display RAM, an on-chip oscillator, and temperature compensation for adjustment of VLCD and frame frequency, providing fine tuning of the screen for optical visual performance.

In addition, the LDS194 and LDS195 includes advanced programmable display features such as partial display mode for power-reducing screen saver controls, block inversion for low cross talk, and color depth selection for enhanced screen performance.
