Barco Launches New High-speed Display Controllers for Healthcare Imaging

RSNA Annual Meeting, Chicago, USA, - Medical imaging specialist Barco has introduced a new line of display controllers for medical imaging. The brand-new boards deliver triple-head capabilities and better performance when handling large datasets as well as faster OpenGL and DirectX functionality, all of which are becoming increasingly common in high-end PACS environments.

"Our latest line of MXRT display controllers comprises three models: MXRT-7400, MXRT-5400 and MXRT-2400," explains Barco's Market Director Lynda Domogalla. "All three boards are built with the latest ATI FireProTM 3D technology for leading-edge performance, flexibility and reliability. All three are also compatible with the new DisplayPort interface standard, which assures easy installation and ultra-fast and reliable data transfers."

The mid-range MXRT-5400 and the high-end MXRT-7400 can drive three displays with just one PCIe slot, which makes them ideally suited for PACS workstations combining two diagnostic displays (or one seamless 'Fusion' display) with a third monitor for patient lists or 3D viewing applications. This "all-in-one" approach not only saves space on the PC, it also simplifies installation and significantly reduces power consumption. Fitted with 2GB of memory and an ultra-fast GPU, the top-of-the-line MXRT-7400 presents users with unmatched processing power for large medical datasets.
The compact MXRT-2400 offers a perfect solution for set-ups where a low-profile workstation is needed for space efficiency. The energy-friendly board can drive two 5-MegaPixel displays at full refresh rates.

As part of Barco's system approach, all of the new MXRT-x400 display controllers have been fully tested and optimized to work with Barco's full range of Nio and Coronis display products as well as its MediCal QAWeb software solution. Vigorous compatibility testing also ensures reliable performance with all common medical applications. The new MXRT-x400 boards support DirectX (version 11.0) and OpenGL (version 4.0) and are compatible with the Microsoft Windows® 7 operating system.
