Rockwell Automation Brings Message Display Capabilities to Machine Level

Allen-Bradley In View(TM) panel-mount display broadcasts messages for improved productivity and greater plant floor efficiency

MILWAUKEE, September 12, 2002- Plant-floor workers who need fast, localized messaging at the machine level can now more easily do so with the new Allen-Bradley InView(TM) panel-mount display from complete automation leader Rockwell Automation. The new InView display, which has the same features and functionality of larger InView message displays, can show operating condition messages specific to individual plant cells
or machines.

Visible up to 25 feet away, the InView panel-mount display promotes increased plant floor efficiency, communicating detailed information such as maintenance data, process status and alarms at specific plant locations. It also improves efficiency of message delivery by interfacing with larger displays to deliver messages plant-wide or to specified locations via the new smaller displays.

"Having immediate access to critical plant cell information means employees are better informed about their immediate working environment," said Paul Whitney, Product Manager, Rockwell Automation. "With faster access to accurate information, operators can troubleshoot problems more quickly and take preventive measures that help reduce costs, improve productivity and minimize downtime."

Each InView display can accommodate up to two lines of red LED text and varying character styles that are 0.7 inches high. The display window can hold up to 40 characters, and an embedded scrolling feature can extend those limits on longer messages.

All InView products use a common software and hardware platform that makes the displays easy to use and customize. They can communicate directly from any application that supports ActiveX controls, such as Rockwell Software RSView(TM) 32. InView products can integrate seamlessly into a plant's existing or new control network, allowing users to configure point-to-point controller communication via a standard RS-232 communications port or an RS-485 multi-drop network configuration.
