Nordson's Unity(TM) Systems Meet Growing Demand for Consistent, Precise Dispensing

DULUTH, GA -February 11, 2009 - Nordson Corporation (Nasdaq: NDSN) has introduced its Unity dispensing systems for the easy handling and accurate dispensing of heated and ambient materials used in a wide variety of assembly and sealing applications. The Unity systems are designed for simple integration into existing production processes. Ranging from handheld dispensers to complete robot work stations, the systems offer a variety of nozzle and needle sizes to accommodate the continuing production trend toward miniaturization.

Unity systems enable design flexibility for smaller, more intricate production designs that could not be achieved by bulky or unwieldy conventional tapes or mechanical fasteners. Additionally, Unity systems were designed to handle a broad range of high-performance adhesives that allow bonding of a variety of dissimilar material substrates - plastics, metals and glass - to further enhance design windows.

Unity dispensers are ideal for bonding, sealing, encapsulation, gasketing and attachment in many applications, including mobile phones, batteries and power cells, and medical device manufacturing. They are designed for the consistent, controlled dispensing of high-performance materials, such as polyurethanes (PURs), from 30 cc syringes and 294 ml cartridges. Unity systems minimize residual waste of adhesives and substrates by helping to enable accurate application of adhesive over extended work times.

"In an ever-increasingly competitive global environment, Unity systems deliver production flexibility while optimizing material usage," says Frank Burkus, Nordson global business development manager. "Specifically, introduction of Unity dispensers has allowed several major cell phone manufacturers to significantly differentiate themselves even during this tight economy."

The Nordson Unity systems offer a full range of dispensing equipment for an ever-expanding list of manufacturing applications:
