Mentor Engineering Announces Upgrades to IntelliFleet®

Sophisticated in-vehicle computing, new and improved software modules, and superior dispatching capabilities are available with this newest release.

CALGARY, AB - January 13, 2009

Mentor Engineering releases upgrades to IntelliFleet®, an automated dispatch system designed specifically to deal with the day-to-day operational realities of taxi organizations. This modularly designed software suite provides call takers, dispatchers, and system administrators with a comprehensive set of tools to help them perform their jobs more efficiently and accurately.

With the additional functionality offered by this latest release, IntelliFleet users can benefit from the increased sophistication of Mentor Ranger® in-vehicle computers. Ranger has a high resolution color touch screen, turn-by-turn navigation capabilities, a magnetic card swipe, taximeter, and a rubberized exterior to stand up to the tough taxi environment. With its internal modem, Ranger can operate over private two-way radio or public cellular networks.

Also new to IntelliFleet is the IntelliRouter Interface module. IntelliRouter streamlines the call assignment process for taxi organizations that operate a paratransit fleet or partner with municipal or third party paratransit organizations. Details, such as multiple pick-up locations, are sent directly to the appropriate taxi. Managers are able to monitor paratransit rides in real-time, automatically price rides according to the service provided, and generate trip reports each day, eliminating the need to fax or email trip information between operations.

Speeding pick-up times, thereby decreasing fuel consumption, is a benefit of IntelliFleet's expanded zone-based dispatching and address differentiation capability. With zone-based dispatching, taxi companies can now better control trip offers, from GPS-verified closest car and next closest zone, to stands and posts within or across multiple zones. As well, IntelliFleet identifies if there are two identical addresses in different districts or cities serviced by the same taxi company, reducing confusion for operators when locating an address.

In addition, operators are now equipped with IntelliFleet Dashboard, a small window on their screen that provides a quick, real-time overview of vehicle and trip statuses. At a glance, operators can see vehicle activity, such as the number of taxis signed in and booked on, and can monitor all active call counts. And finally, modifications to the IntelliPay module mean that IntelliFleet can now process corporate cards and gift cards, simplifying the payment process for taxi clients.

"The added functionality offered by these newest IntelliFleet upgrades was driven by feedback from our customers," says Ron Boulton, National Taxi Manager at Mentor. "We continuously strive to improve IntelliFleet in response to our customers' evolving needs."

For existing clients, IntelliFleet upgrades are free and, in the majority of cases, will automatically take effect with little to no downtime.
