New Seiko Instruments Printer Reduces ATM and Kiosk Maintenance

Torrance, CA, August 9, 2007 - Seiko Instruments USA Inc. (SII) www.siiprinters.com, Micro Printer Division has added two models to its best-in-class line of CAP9000 (direct thermal printer mechanisms) www.siiprinters.com/thermal-printers/thermal-printer-mechanisms.aspx. The new 2-inch and 4-inch print width models follow the highly successful 3-inch device, delivering the industry leading platform for durability, reliability, performance, and integration flexibility in receipt and ticket printing applications. In addition to the CAP9000 models (with auto-cutter), SII has also introduced the LTP9000 models (without auto-cutter) as general purpose heavy-duty printer mechanisms.

"The Seiko Instruments CAP9000 gave us a rugged and reliable printer suitable for self service applications," said Bill Jackson, Vice President of Engineering for Triton. As a recipient of the ATM Industry Association lifetime achievement award, Jackson is a recognized leader in the self-service industry. Triton is a global ATM manufacturer with more than 158,000 installations in over 24 countries worldwide and is the largest provider of off-premise ATMs and ATM management software in North America.

"By listening to the specific needs of our self-service market customers, and working closely with our engineers to address those needs, we are pleased to be able to introduce these new (thermal printer) www.siiprinters.com mechanisms," said Akira Yamamoto, President of Seiko Instruments USA. "The self-service industry is experiencing a dynamic growth period, and we're excited to be well positioned as a solutions provider to this market with the CAP9000 lineup."

CAP9000 mechanisms deliver exceptional print speed (up to 10 inches per second), to improve the kiosk user experience, while extreme temperature support (-20° to 60° C) ensures reliable operation in demanding outdoor environments. Ratings for a minimum of 150 km total printing and at least 1,000,000 cuts, combined with large paper roll support, help reduce downtime and maintenance and operating costs. And, maximum integration flexibility is achieved with an innovative small footprint design, curved and straight paper path options, and a choice of USB, Serial, and Parallel interfaces.
