Direct Drive Motor comes in two parts.

Press Release Summary:

Brushless ULT frameless motor has separate rotor and stator that can be integrated into precision mechanical assemblies. Low profile motor has axial lengths as small as 10 mm, diameters up to 165 mm, and through holes up to 120 mm, making it suitable for direct drive rotary applications. Models are available with 30 to 600 oz-in of torque output. Its three phase motor will run on any sinusoidal or trapezoidal brushless amplifier.

Original Press Release:

ULT Series Brushless Direct Drive Motors

New ULT Brushless frameless motors offer low profile for direct drive applications. With motor axial lengths as small as 10 mm, diameters up to 165 mm, and through holes up to 120 mm, these motors are ideal for direct drive rotary applications where the advantages of low profile, high resolution, smooth and quiet operation benefit precision part handling and inspection. The ULT motor line covers from 30 to 600 oz-in of torque output. With standard three phase brushless motor construction, ULT motors will run on any sinusoidal or trapezoidal brushless amplifier. Hall devices are available, and the assembly does not add any axial height to the motor. Standard windings are available for 12, 24, 48 volts. Custom windings are also available at no additional cost allowing speed and efficiency optimization. Applimotion has minimized cogging torque without expensive skewing of the stator laminations. Torque curves have less than I % harmonic distortion for smooth operation with sinusoidal current control amplifiers. ULT frameless motors come as a two part assembly, (rotor and stator), that can be easily integrated into precision mechanical assemblies. Simple machine wound stator and single piece NdFeB rotor magnet reduces parts count and cost. For applications requiring a through hole in the rotor, the ULT motors can have up to a 120 mm diameter hole through the rotor. Originally designed for precision inspection applications, the ULT series motors, when coupled to high resolution feedback, comfortably run at speeds from 1 to 250 rpm and can position to sub micron level accuracy. Direct drive nature of these motors allow them to handle high inertial mismatches with ease. Applimotion, Inc. is located in Roseville, CA.
