AVX's TEP Series Dipped Radial Capacitors Now Offer Tin-Lead Finish

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (October 18, 2005) - Responding to the needs of customers exempt from the RoHS specifications, AVX recently developed a tin-lead finish version of the conformally-coated tantalum radial leaded capacitor (TAP), which was originally introduced as the first lead-free component of its kind in January of this year. Designated the TEP Series, these capacitors are professional-grade devices manufactured with a flame-retardant coating and feature low leakage current and impedance and exceptional temperature stability in very small packages.

"When AVX was the first to market with the lead-free version of the tantalum radial leaded capacitor back in January, we were excited to be able to help customers meet the RoHS standard well before the deadline," said Dan Lane, Tantalum Marketing Manager for AVX. "But then our exempt customers requested the same performance and capabilities in a tin-lead version, and we're happy we can provide that to them now."

The TEP Series has a capacitance range of 0.1µF to 330µF with a capacitance tolerance of ±10%; ±20%. It is available in bulk and T&R packaging for automatic insertion. The wide range of capacitance, working voltages and case sizes enables TEP to accommodate almost any application.

Typical pricing for the TEP Series Tin-Lead Finish Capacitors ranges from $0.130 to $2.50 in quantities of 10,000 with lead times from 6 to 8 weeks and samples available immediately.
